City of Perth Parking Card

The City of Perth offers the public the Parking Card, an alternative method of payment to cash or credit card. It is a form of electronic “purse” onto which you can load a credit amount of your choice to use in selected machines. Two types of Parking Card are available: chip card and mag stripe card. Which type you need depends on where it is to be used.

The chip card is for use exclusively with Hectronic machines, which are decreasing in number around the city. The card carries all information in the chip, so if it is lost or stolen, the credit stored on the card is lost.

The card may be purchased at any staffed car park (His Majesty’s, Cultural Centre, Concert Hall, Roe Street, Pier Street, State Library, Citiplace and Convention Centre) and at the Customer Service Centre in Council House. It may also be recharged at these locations. The card must be recharged on physical presentation of the card; it cannot be recharged by telephone. The initial cost of the card is $60, which covers a $10 refundable deposit, provided the card is returned in usable condition, and $50 worth of credit. The card may be topped up at the time of purchase.

The chip card is also available from West Perth News, but cannot be topped up or recharged at this location. If you are dependent on one of these two agents you can use up the credit on the card in a Hectronic machine and use coins to complete the transaction. You then exchange the card for a freshly charged one at the newsagent’s for a cost of $50.

Where to use the chip card:
• Kerbside in West Perth, north of Wellington Street
• Kerbside in Havelock Street West Perth, north of Hay Street
• Kerbside on De Vlamingh Avenue, East Perth
• Council House, Mayfair Street, Mounts Bay Road, Point Fraser, Queens Gardens, Regal Place and Saunders Street car parks.

The mag stripe card is used in Reino and Datapark machines which are increasing in number. Data is stored on a central database which is accessed by the machine whenever the card is used, thus protecting your credit. If the card is lost or stolen, it can be deactivated and credit transferred to a new card.

To obtain a mag stripe card, please download the application form from the link below, complete the details and fax or email the completed form. When the card has been issued and activated, you can add credit from your credit card by telephone at any time on 9461 1710 or in person at any staffed car park or the Customer Service Centre at Council House. The mag stripe card is also available from Cloisters News, but cannot be topped up or recharged at this location.

Where to use the mag stripe card:
• Kerbside in the CBD, most of Northbridge, West Perth and East Perth
• All staffed (boom gate) car parks
• Aberdeen Street, Coolgardie Street, Fire Station, Goderich Street, Hay Street East, Milligan Street, Newcastle Street, Plain Street, Royal Street, Terrace Road and Wellington Street car parks.
