Arts & Culture Guide

Perth is a vibrant city and home to many of the State's major arts companies, organisations and cultural institutions. The City hosts world class festivals, performances and concerts featuring a diverse range of artforms which take place all year round.

Perth Cultural Centre  in Northbridge is home to the Western Australian Museum, the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, The State Library and the State Theatre Centre. The Blue Room Theatre is the home of independent and emerging theatre offering an intimate experience for those seeking something fresh.

Gallery Central has a year round program of local, national and international exhibitons featuring works by professional artists and creative industry students from the Central Institute.  Northbridge is home to Perth's own dedicated photomedia gallery, the Perth Centre for Photography.

The Western Australian Museum in Perth offers a wide range of long term and travelling exhibitons.  The Western Australian Art Gallery houses the State Art collection, which includes one of the world's finest collections of indigenous art, the pre-eminent collection of Western Australian art and design, as well as Australian and International art and design.

The acoustically magnificent Perth Concert Hall hosts regular performances by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, as well as touring artists. Our flagship company regularly performs with some of the world's finest soloists and guest performers.

The West Australian Ballet and the West Australian Opera have performances seasons throughout the year at the Edwardian Era His Majesty's Theatre. The State Theatre Centre hosts the productions of the resident theatre companies Black Swan State Theatre Company and Perth Theatre Company and a range of touring work, contemporary dance and music performances.
