Perth Youth Advisory Council
The Perth Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a volunteer group of young people. The YAC has the opportunity to voice their opinion on the direction the City takes to make Perth a vibrant place for young people. They meet regularly to discuss issues and opportunities for young people, plan events and social functions and generally work hard at being effective members of the city community.
Their goals are:
- To build partnerships within the youth sector.
- To maintain a current understanding of priorities for youth in the City of Perth.
- To provide direct feedback from young people.
- To include young people in the City of Perth community.
To join the YAC young people must:
- Be between 15 and 25 years of age;
- Be a resident or regular visitor (once a week) to the city for work, study or leisure;
- Complete a membership form and submit it to the YAC coordinator (forms can be found on the website); and
- Produce a police clearance if over 18 years of age;
- Be available to meet once a month and commit more time as required during events..
Please visit the Perth YAC website for more information on membership, current projects and news

For many young people skateboarding is a primary mode of transport as well as a sport. Please consider the following points when you choose to skate in the City.
- Everybody has the right to feel safe.
- You can take pride in the fact that the City of Perth is one of safest capital cities in the world.
- To keep it that way, show respect for other people by being polite and listening when they have concerns about where you skate.
- Pedestrians always have the right of way.
- It is in your best interest to avoid accidents and potential fines by carrying your skateboard through heavy pedestrian areas.
The closest skate park is at HQ in Leederville, which is two train stops from Perth. Visit their website for more information.
