Barrack Street Bridge and Wellington Street road works - associated closures

Barrack St Bridge and Wellington St road works

Sinking the Fremantle Line from William Street to Lake/King Street for the Perth City Link sees a number of changes happening at Perth Station.

To allow these upgrades to take place, works will take place which will impact traffic conditions on Barrack Street Bridge (April 2012 – late-2012) and Wellington Street (May 2012 – mid-2013).

As shown on the map (see update brochure), Barrack Street Bridge will see the two northbound lanes remain open, however the southbound lanes will close. Motorists connecting from Roe Street to Wellington Street must turn right at the Horseshoe Bridge.

Wellington Street, from William Street to the entrance of Perth Station, will be reduced to one lane. From late-2012, the two westbound lanes will be reinstated. Eastbound will remain as one lane until mid-2013.

This work is being undertaken by the Perth City Link Rail Alliance. Sinking the Fremantle Line from William to Lake/King Streets is essential to realising the Perth City Link vision to connect the CBD and Northbridge and revitalise the area. The rail work will be completed in 2014.
