The day to day running of the city is the responsibility of the Chief Executive Officer, who, along with Directors and staff, act on the Council's decisions by developing and putting into practice the Council policies and resolutions.

Sustainable
City
Development
The Sustainable City Development Unit uses in house technical expertise and skills in strategic town planning, heritage, social policy and environment to identify, develop and review plans, strategies, guidelines, programs and projects on issues that guide the future sustainable development of the city appropriate for the capital city of Western Australia. Services
Approval Services is responsible for allowing for the growth and development of the City and the conduct of City events while also ensuring that the health, safety, convenience and amenities within the City are not compromised. The Unit provides a single point of access for customers providing all approval and licensing services. City Design City Design is responsible for the physical improvements of the existing public domain, the creation of new public spaces and facilities throughout the city and preparing and implementing strategic transport initiatives that will produce an attractive, functional and sustainable city environment. Area Maintenance The presentation and maintenance of the City's expansive open spaces, streetscapes and parklands to a level of service and quality commensurate with Perth as the City for people and capital of Western Australia. Works and Services The preservation and rehabilitation for the City's physical assets including roads, stormwater, pedestrian pavements and access ways. The delivery of cost effective customer focused services for City cleansing, waste management, recycling and litter. Contract Management To facilitate the provision and maintenance of assets and services to the council in a cost efficient and effective manner. Marketing To encourage and stimulate economic and community development for the City of Perth by attracting investment, business and tourism to the City, while striving to encourage a sense of pride in, and ownership of the capital city for all Western Australians. Compliance Services To promote compliance with Health, Planning, Building and other legislation. Community Services To provide and facilitate community services that contribute to the well-being and assistance of the City's, residents, visitors and workers. Library Services To provide a Library and Information Service for City residents and the wider community. Property Management Services To manage, develop and maintain the City's property portfolio. Customer Service To provide a friendly and efficient telephone and counter service for customers enquiries.
