The Management Team

The day to day running of the city is the responsibility of the Chief Executive Officer, who, along with Directors and staff, act on the Council's decisions by developing and putting into practice the Council policies and resolutions.

Gary Stevenson PSM Chief Executive Officer

Gary Stevenson is most recently from Thornlands, Queensland, and was Chief Executive of Redland City Council (from 2008–2012) and can claim 31 years’ experience in local government across three states. He had 14 years in various roles in municipal engineering, followed by 17 years as a CEO. He has worked as a CEO for three different Councils, one in Victoria and two in Queensland.

Gary has previously lived and worked in Western Australia. He was the Deputy Director and then the Director of Works and Technical Services at the Town of Albany in the late 80s through to 1991.

His first role as a Chief Executive Officer was in 1994 at the Corangamite Shire Council in Victoria, following the amalgamation process in Victoria. He remained in that role until 1998. He then took the position as CEO of Rockhampton City Council until 2008, when there was an amalgamation of local governments in Queensland.

Gary was awarded the Public Service Medal in the 2008 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for outstanding public service and leadership within local government, particularly through local government reforms.

Robert Mianich The Director of Corporate Services, responsible for:

Corporate Support	To provide efficient and effective corporate administrative services to enhance and support the Council's decision making process.
Financial Services	To support the management of the Council's financial resources in an efficient and effective manner and meet all statutory obligations.
Human Resources	To provide efficient and effective personnel and industrial relations support services in recognition of the fact that staff are our most valuable resource.
Information Services	To provide a quality information technology service that supports and enhances the business of the City of Perth.

Martin Mileham Director of Planning and Development, responsible for:

Sustainable City Development	The Sustainable City Development Unit uses in house technical expertise and skills in strategic town planning, heritage, social policy and environment to identify, develop and review plans, strategies, guidelines, programs and projects on issues that guide the future sustainable development of the city appropriate for the capital city of Western Australia.
Approval Services	Approval Services is responsible for allowing for the growth and development of the City and the conduct of City events while also ensuring that the health, safety, convenience and amenities within the City are not compromised. The Unit provides a single point of access for customers providing all approval and licensing services.
City Design	City Design is responsible for the physical improvements of the existing public domain, the creation of new public spaces and facilities throughout the city and preparing and implementing strategic transport initiatives that will produce an attractive, functional and sustainable city environment.
Economic Development	The Economic Development Unit aims to identify, develop and review strategies that diversify the economic base and interests of the city. The Unit facilitates communication between the public, business community and government agencies to work collectively to create an environment that fosters sustainable economic growth.

Doug Forster The Director, Business Units, responsible for:

Area Maintenance	The presentation and maintenance of the City's expansive open spaces, streetscapes and parklands to a level of service and quality commensurate with Perth as the City for people and capital of Western Australia.
Works and Services	The preservation and rehabilitation for the City's physical assets including roads, stormwater, pedestrian pavements and access ways. The delivery of cost effective customer focused services for City cleansing, waste management, recycling and litter.
Off-Street Carparking	The planning, management and maintenance of off-street carparking in the city which provides convenient, low cost and easily accessible facilities suited to the needs of users.

Garry Dunne The Director, Service Units, responsible for:

Contract Management	To facilitate the provision and maintenance of assets and services to the council in a cost efficient and effective manner.
Marketing, Communications and Events	To encourage and stimulate economic and community development for the City of Perth by attracting investment, business and tourism to the City, while striving to encourage a sense of pride in, and ownership of the capital city for all Western Australians.
Compliance Services	To promote compliance with Health, Planning, Building and other legislation.
Community Services	To provide and facilitate community services that contribute to the well-being and assistance of the City's, residents, visitors and workers.
Library Services	To provide a Library and Information Service for City residents and the wider community.
Property Management Services	To manage, develop and maintain the City's property portfolio.
Customer Service	To provide a friendly and efficient telephone and counter service for customers enquiries.
