The City of Perth’s 2029 Environment vision:
“In 2029 the City of Perth is a place where the natural environment and built form exist in harmony. A place that is the heart that sustains the greater metropolitan area.
The City of Perth is highly responsive to changes in the natural environment and is proactive in preparing for the impacts of climate change on its infrastructure and community. It has a small carbon footprint, a green energy focus and effective water management systems. The City has developed strong partnerships with its business and residential communities in order to build a sustainable city for future generations and it has demonstrated leadership through the value it places on conserving global and local natural resources, existing infrastructure and the use of renewable energy.”
The City’s Environmental actions are guided by the City Environment Plan 2005-2008. The plan identifies and provides actions to improve the five key environmental issues that affect the City (land, water quality and conservation, biodiversity, air and solid waste management). The plan is currently under review and the development of a new strategic framework for delivering environment management is underway.
