World Energy Cities Partnership
In recognition of the growing global importance of the West Australian energy industry, Perth is the only Australian member of the World Energy Cities Partnership, a partnership of 19 cites, which promotes the exchange of industry knowledge and economic development expertise and strategies between its members cities.
The strength of the City of Perth’s relationship with the World Energy Cities Partnership is reflected by the fact The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor, Ms. Lisa Scaffidi, was elected President of the WECP in October 2009, for a term of 2 years and the City hosted the 2010 Annual General Meeting. This event brought 150 delegates to Perth for the Annual General Meeting, conferences and Business to Business opportunities.
Other opportunities to come from the City of Perth's affiliation with the World Energy Cities Partnership include:
• Increase awareness within the international community about opportunities available in Perth.
• Creating links for local businesses with potential partners and clients.
• Major research opportunities and partnerships with local and international universities to identify gap analysis for potential targeted investment.
